NPIP Program History

Board of Directors

Legislation was passed in Washington State on March 31, 2004, to allow nonprofit organizations to pool insurance. The new legislation is part of Senate Bill 5869

Created by Nonprofits

Confronted with erratic and unpredictable insurance premiums, constantly shifting coverages and the unavailability of tools to help reduce their exposures to risk in the traditional insurance market, a small group of leaders from nonprofit entities created an alliance to take control of their insurance needs. These original nonprofit entities joined together to form NPIP. Today NPIP provides insurance coverage and risk management services to hundreds of organizations in over twenty-five different nonprofit sectors. Beyond just providing insurance, NPIP's goal is to provide a wide variety of resources to its members so they can control the risks facing their organizations and enable them to take control of their insurance future.
